Some Ideas For Marketing Your Book
I spend a bit of time during the week in transit. So, I load up my mp3 player with a few podcasts.
One of the most useful and content rich podcasts on book writing and publishing comes from Joanna Penn at the Creative Penn . She has written/published a few books and shares her research experience on her blog.

Here is a great article entitled “Marketing Your First Book: 9 Tips For Authors “.
If you consider her first point, “Get an audience before the release”, ask yourself the following:
What social media am I using? (How many fans, followers, etc… do I already have?
Do I have a blog? (Are people reading it)
Do I have a mailing list?
Am I marketing with articles, press releases, email newsletter?
Have I been giving out promo flyers or business cards with (printed) direct links to more info about my up and coming book? (remember offline marketing?)
Podcast? webcast? Youtube?
There are so many possibilities for self promotion these days, what are you using?

In all the time I’ve had this software I haven’t produced an ebook with it. I know, its pathetic, but I always seem to get sidetracked by something else in relation to completing to book.

I completely agree with the above comment, the internet is with a doubt growing into the most important medium of communication across the globe and its due to sites like this that ideas are spreading so quickly.

Someone approached and asked me to write an e-book for him. Apparently, he was impressed with my site, particularly the depth and quality of my content. My problem is, I don’t know how much to charge for such an e-book project. This is going to be my very first e-book creation. How much can I charge?

Hard to just answer, but here are a few thoughts and guide lines:
What is the client doing with this eBook (selling it, giving it away, bundling it with other items?
Will they have exclusive rights? (you can never re-use what you have created for them)
Will they allow you an active back link to your site from within the eBook? For example a mention in the ebook or a sponsored insert?
Now equally important to consider are a few aspects of revenue when doing “creative content” for a client.
1 – money for time – how much is your time worth
2 – money for intellectual property – what are your ideas worth
When I calculate these into a project, there is always a bit of give and take. On the Internet I tend to give more than when I charge for offline projects (printed material, DVD, audio CD, etc). On the Net projects give added benefits such as back links, more referrals by the ease of passing on the ebook to others, etc.
Now you say this is your first time so calculate:
1 – how much time it will take x what you think is a fair price per hour for your labor.
2 – If you are inserting some of your knowledge (not the editing part) into the peice you may want to consider charging an additional amount or negotiate an insert into the final eBook that would link to a list building sign up page or back to your website.

Have you ever considered adding more videos to your blog posts to keep the readers more entertained? I mean I just read through the entire article of yours and it was quite good but since I’m more of a visual learner,I found that to be more helpful. Just my my idea, Good luck
